A Time For Healing




This week's election caught all of us by surprise. If the polls were any indication, very few people really anticipated the reality of a future with President Trump at the helm of our nation's capitol building. But here we are. Some feel like this was a great victory for people of faith. Others shake their head in disgust. How is this possible?

Most of us were keenly aware of the division that existed in our nation, but didn't quite grasp the depth of it. This election has brought it all to light. The division doesn't appear to be just left and right, but extends battle lines between the liberal and the conservative, the rich and the poor, the urban and the rural, the educated and the un-educated, the north and the south, the sacred and secular, the free market and the environmentalist, the white majority and the growing minority, the boomers and the millennials, and even down to those who embrace technology, and those who choose to ignore it.

It seems that in every direction we look there is a fight brewing. Where is it realistic for a follower of Jesus to stand? What is it that we should be fighting for? Do we even know anymore?

In 1865 Abraham Lincoln, in his second inaugural address... said this about the Civil War, "both read the same Bible, and pray to the same God, and each invokes his aid against the other. The prayers of both could not be answered that of neither could be answered fully. The almighty has His own purposes...With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations."

The election is over. The votes are in. Our nation's leader has been selected. Our God is still on his throne. Today is a new day. Today the sun came up on both the believer and the un-believer. Today is a fresh start. Today followers of Christ should make the choice to fight for one thing, and one thing alone: the healing of broken relationships. 

Jesus died on the cross to rescue every person in this country regardless of their political affiliation. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice for every human being on this planet regardless of their radical ideals, or perception of our country and it's president. Jesus loves. Jesus loves each of them. Jesus loves you. Its time for you to do the same. The time is now. A time for healing.

    Pastor Milo I have always known you to be a True Christ Follower. In this time of potential darkness we need men of your character and the message of love you so passionetly preach.
