The Life of Joshua

I am reading in the book of Joshua this week for my LTG. It has been a very good experience for me to dig a little deeper this week, becuase this is our 3rd week attempting to work through the book. I have always been exited about the life of Joshua, for he is one of the few Bible characters I know of that was able to live a life without any large skeletons in the closet - minus that one issue with moldy bread and rotten backpacks. David was a man after God's own heart, but he had a number of character flaws. Moses did great things for God, but he was a doubter who liked to throw temper tantrums. In the first 10 verses of the book, we hear God's instructions:
Vs 6 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.
Vs 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
This weekend is one of the most stressful times of the year for any church, including ours We are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt like many other churches in our area, but we really are hoping to reach, touch, and retain the unchurched members of our community. Tommy is preaching a series entitles "God on Film" where we will use Hollywood movies to teach about the different aspects of the character of God.

As you might guess, these elements create a particularly difficult time for me, being in charge of the worship services, and outreach projects. what I got from Joshua this morning is to be strong, because if I truly am persistent in my devotion to God's word, he will make our church prosperous. Does this mean we will have 25,000 people eating hot dogs and picking up eggs this weekend? Doubtfully. But God can do great things in the life of our church if we are diligent in our puriut after His Word

  1. Milo,

Your blog looks great and I enjoyed reading your entries. Yes, this week has been stressful and tiring, but I'm looking forward to Saturday and Sunday. When even one person is connected to Christ and His church, it's so worth it! It's a pleasure working alongside you in ministry!
